A Shop by the Sea 113 Ainazu Street, Zvejniekciems, Latvia
BackThe plot is located in Zvejniekciems, on the shore of the Baltic Sea, where an ELVI shop with summer outlets is planned. The retail outlet will be located on a historically significant site, where the Zvejniekciems common fish drying complex "Ikriņi" once stood; therefore, the development of the site is planned with the utmost respect for its history and natural values.
The new shop will be a unique shopping place on the seafront, which will be built respecting both the proximity of the dune area and the historical heritage of the site. We are well aware of the fact that for a large part of Zvejniekciems inhabitants and history experts, this place was associated with the prosperity and achievements of local industry, so developing this area is a great challenge and responsibility for us at the same time. ELVI is a chain of shops created by Latvian entrepreneurs and, with its capacity, experience and understanding of Latvian values, will be able to breathe new life into a neighbourhood that has been degraded over the last decades.
The development plan for the area includes the construction of an energy-efficient and visually appealing retail building, a large car park for almost 60 vehicles, greenery in the recreation area and pop-up retail and leisure areas during the summer season. A special place in the complex will also be dedicated to the historical information of the area and the protection of the surrounding habitats, so that ELVI shoppers can combine a visit to the shop with the acquisition of new knowledge and pleasant relaxation in the immediate vicinity of the sea.
